An A Song of Ice and Fire re-read podcast focused on the female pov chapters. Here we’ll discuss what it means to be female in the World of Ice and Fire, what that does to the individual psyche, and how that translates across class, age, and geographical location. The read will consist first of the female point-of-view chapters of each book, rounding each book off with a critical look at one central male character’s chapters, with the hopes of also examining how the strict gender roles of their society effects even the most well-intentioned of characters. Episode 9 : Arya II (AGOT chapter 22)
This week Court and Mike are back with Arya, who's now miserably settled into King's Landing. While everyone around her seems to enjoy the excitement of their trip abroad, her thoughts are still on the the Trident and the tragedy that happened there. After feeling less than up for merriment during a feast, she soon finds herself fleeing to her new foreign chambers with thoughts of escape on her mind, her father's words and an unexpected surprise being the only calming remedies.
