An A Song of Ice and Fire re-read podcast focused on the female pov chapters. Here we’ll discuss what it means to be female in the World of Ice and Fire, what that does to the individual psyche, and how that translates across class, age, and geographical location. The read will consist first of the female point-of-view chapters of each book, rounding each book off with a critical look at one central male character’s chapters, with the hopes of also examining how the strict gender roles of their society effects even the most well-intentioned of characters. Episode 5 : Daenerys II (AGOT chapter 11)
This week Court and Mike follow Dany as she prepares herself to be wed to Khal Drogo. A heated dinner takes place the night before the wedding, where everyone makes decisions for her without asking.
The next day the most elaborate wedding this side of The Narrow Sea takes place. Forty thousand deep, the Dothraki come to Pentos to put on the event of a lifetime. After the gifts are presented, Drogo decides it's time for his own gift and provides Dany with the wind. Immediately following this act, Viserys brings her crashing back to the reality of the day. She is in danger, and no can save her.

We are currently reading Fire & Blood but at a much slower pace due to our current re-read. That’s a very interesting find! No doubt he got his Cheeto dust all over them.

In Fire and Blood, the lover of a Targ princess steals 3 dragon eggs and runs off across the narrow sea. I wouldn't be surprised if they somehow made their way into Illyrio's greasy pizza hands...
